Lynne J. Goldberg, MD

Background: Dr. Lynne Goldberg graduated AOA from Downstate Medical Center. She is triple boarded, having completed a residency in internal medicine at New York University School of Medicine, a residency in dermatology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and a fellowship in dermatopathology at the Boston University School of Medicine. Upon completion of her fellowship she was invited to join the Boston University Department of Dermatology faculty, where she has happily practiced for over 25 years, and is currently an endowed professor. Dr. Goldberg has dual roles within the department, directing the Hair Clinic at Boston Medical Center and signing out skin biopsies at the Skin Pathology Laboratory. Lynne is renowned as an authority on the subject of alopecia and is an invited speaker at local, national and international meetings. She has authored multiple manuscripts and book chapters on the clinical and histopathologic aspects of alopecia. She is an avid teacher, winning multiple teaching awards from the dermatology residents and international trainees at Boston University Dermatology. She has mentored residents and fellows from across the country who have received awards to work with her from the Women’s Dermatologic Society and the American Hair Research Society. She serves as a Scientific Advisor to the Cicatricial Alopecia Research Foundation, is a member of committees for both the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatopathology and sits on the Board of the American Hair Research Society. She is dedicated to her patients and directs a support group for those suffering with scarring alopecia.

Special interests: "I am interested in the histologic evaluation of the various forms of scarring and non-scarring alopecia, and in applying this towards clinicopathologic correlation in the evaluation of complex patients seen in a specialty hair clinic."

Research Interests: "I maintain an IRB approved database of hair patients evaluated at the Hair Clinic of Boston Medical Center, used in clinical studies."
