International Fellowship in Dermatopathology
Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine

There is a critical global need to train international physicians in dermatopathology to improve healthcare delivery in their home countries. The International Fellowship in Dermatopathology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is designed to meet this need by offering advanced education in the field.

This one-year program combines didactic instruction with focused study of microscopic dermatopathology of inflammatory and neoplastic conditions. All trainees are required to complete a research project during their fellowship. Please note that there are no patient care responsibilities, and fellows are not eligible to sit for the certification exams administered by the American Boards of Dermatology and Pathology. Additionally, they are not permitted to practice medicine or attend clinical sessions in the United States..

Upon successful completion, fellows may be eligible to take the International Board Certification in Dermatopathology. They will be well-prepared to lead initiatives in education, research, and patient care within their local dermatopathology communities.

Minimum requirements:

Applicants must have completed residency training in either dermatology or pathology. A limited number of scholarships are available to assist with lodging and boarding expenses. To qualify for a scholarship, applicants must complete an additional three months of training—either in dermatology (for those with a pathology background) or in anatomic pathology (for those with a dermatology background)—in their home country or elsewhere.
